Luiza Anacleto Pulphus is a Brazilian bench jeweler, metallurgist, and quality professional based in Brooklyn, New York. But before any of that, she was a child fascinated by old things, the kind of objects that carry time inside them.
That fascination never left. It shaped the way she approaches every piece she works with: not just as an object to be repaired or evaluated, but as something with a history worth understanding. Her training in jewelry fabrication and metallurgy at Atelier Flávio Franco, combined with a Bachelor of Design from Faculdade Méliès, gave technical language to what was always an intuitive pull toward material and craft.
Her professional background spans bench work, quality control, and fine jewelry retail, experiences that taught her to read a piece from multiple angles: how it was made, where it falls short, and what it means to the person wearing it. She is currently completing her GIA Applied Jewelry Professional certification.
Drawn to archaeological jewelry, ancestral techniques, and the cultural narratives embedded in objects across time, Luiza believes that knowing how something is made is inseparable from knowing how to care for it. That belief guides everything, from bench to documentation to the broader question of why material culture matters.
