Flapjack Pendant

2026

The Flapjack Pendant is a personal piece that sits between memory, devotion, and ancient symbolism.

Made in 18k gold, it takes inspiration from feline figures found in Ancient Egyptian museum collections, where cats were often portrayed as sacred, protective beings and deeply connected to the divine. I was drawn to that recurring silhouette, the quiet strength and elegance that these historical depictions carry, and translated it into a contemporary form.

At the same time, the piece is rooted in something very intimate: my own cat, Flapjack. The pendant becomes a bridge between these two worlds, the historical and the personal, the archaeological and the everyday affection we build with animals we love.

The cat’s eyes are set with rubies, giving the piece a focused, almost watchful presence. A diamond collar adds a subtle contrast of light, reinforcing the idea of reverence without excess. The surface of the gold plays between matte and a more polished finish, allowing the form to shift depending on light and perspective, almost like an artifact that has been both preserved and gently renewed.

The result is a pendant that feels both ancient and alive, carrying the language of Egyptian-inspired forms while holding a very real, personal bond at its center.
